AB  - The goal of telecommunication has always been to enable people to exchange information the way they do in face-to-face communication even though they are miles apart With a telephone, a person can speak to another who is somewhere else on the globe. With the postal system, people cu exchange letters and documents: The fix machine fets people to do both. The Internet provides alternatives to these services with programs like e-mail. tip, and talk. However, none of these technologies cater to more than two people at a time. Thus, there is a need for conferencing systems that facilitate group discussions.

eXplain, a data conferencing application for the X Window System, incorporates the exchange of textual, graphical and undio data among users in a group session. Conferees can view a graphics image simultaneously and swap memages mong each other, either by typing on the keyboard or speaking through the microphone. In education and in business, a significantly large amount of time, money and effort can be ved if people were to take advantage of these conferencing capabilities.

eXplain taps the huge potential of computer networks to achieve more than whit Filipinos have been able to do in the realm of telecommunication. With eXplain, maps cun easily be shown, mathematical equations written, foreign words pronounced, and spreadsheets shared, to bring together people from distant places in a single on-line sembly."
