The researcher made use of the Asuzano-Mattakotil-de Souza objective-projective instrument, the Self-Concept Scale and the Institutional Assessment Measure as instruments in the study. The findings indicated that majority of the students were females from the Metropolitan Manila area, belonging to the Tagalog ethnographic group and middle class in their socio-economic status. Results of the study indicated that there was no significant difference between male and female college students in their motivation for academic achievement. Motivational variables, self-concept and environmental climate form a dynamic linkage for academic achievement. NO - Mimeographed. NO - Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of the Philippines, Quezon City.
