TY - THES T1 - Perfectionalism its relations to family, personal, school, and learning variables among Filipino adolescents A1 - Clarete, Maria Nerissa L. Virtusio LA - English YR - 2008 UL - https://ds.mainlib.upd.edu.ph/Record/UP-99796217608930625 AB - This two-phase, sequential mixed methods study (qualitative and quantitative) was based on the conceptual framework that 3 categories of factors (family, personal, school) would be linked to the onset of perfectionism and that perfectionism in turn, would be associated with learning outcomes. The main objective was to determine the relationship between perfectionism scores and the following variables: parents' educational attainment, parents' occupation, family income, birth order, gender, mental ability scores, school type, and general average grade. The samples were 52 male and female perfectionist students. Perfectionism was measured by the Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale; mental ability by the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test; and family, personal, and school variables by the researcher-made questionnaire. The results implied that perfectionist students should be given support featuring encouragement. assistance, and attempts at cognitive restructuring, i.e., viewing mistakes as normal features of the learning process.
