In the beginning, rape was recognized as an act of passion, an act of lust. Beginning in the 1970s, rape was recognized as an act of violence. Violence comes from a wrong sense of power. Some men believe that they have to constantly prove and assert themselves. The only way that they can do this is by oppressing those people whom they consider weaker than them. Any form of oppression and invasion is rape. This might not fit with the legal and accepted definition of rape but it is true in the socio-political context. This is the point of our thesis; not the sensationalism of such a crime but to give a better understanding of the power struggle between a stronger person and the "weaker" one. NO - Vita.
